The United States Senate issued a resolution noting that "the awful calamity which now desolates the land may be but a punishment, inflicted upon us, for our presumptuous sins." A day of humiliation was called. Oops, that was on April 30, 1863. Such resolutions are rare even for churches today. It was a day in which almost everybody feared God, and quite a comparison with a day in which almost nobody fears God. How do Christians view these calamities? Why is there so little humiliation and fear of God today? How should the church respond to these calamities? These questions answered on this edition of Generations.
